Video Description

The video begins with a woman talking straight into the camera. Pictures hang on the white wall behind her. In the bottom right corner is a thumbnail of a woman signing along to what she is saying. She conducts an interview with questions popping up onto the screen in white text on a black background. The shot switches to her performance. She stands in a kitchen with a sheet over her head and washes her hands. She feels her way around the kitchen to grab a pitcher, She moves to a table covered in a white table cloth and puts the pitcher down. The video focuses on the pitcher. When the video switches back to the woman, she no longer wears a sheet. She is in all block clothing. She grabs a large metal bowl from beside her. She uses the pitcher to fill the bowl with water. One can hear the sound of the water filling the bowl. The woman dunks her hair in the water. A voice-over comes on talking about hair vanishing and coming back. The woman removes her head from the water and flicks her hair back and forth a few time. She wraps a towel around her hair. She places the bowl on the ground and pulls out a plate, a knife, a load of bread, and a bag of chips. She opens the chip bag by slapping it and pours chips onto a slice of bread. She puts another slice on top and makes a sandwich which she cuts diagonally. She throws the loaf of bread away and squishes the sandwich. She places a white object over top the sandwich and pushes the plate away. She takes her hair out of the towel and begins to blow it dry with a hairdryer. The camera focuses in on the woman’s hair as the voice over comes on again talking about a scared child. The woman turns her back to the camera and stops blowdrying her air. She begins to brush it. The voice over talks about a midwife. The woman flips her hair back and flops down on the table. The voice over discusses a visit the pope made to town. Soft, ethereal music begins to play in the background. The woman slowly straightens to a standing position. “The pope was coming when you were coming” says the voice. Another voice asks a question and the first voice responds. The woman looks towards the ceiling and brushes the hair out of her face. She looks at the camera and then looks down. She moves the plate to in front of her and places the white object that she covered the sandwich with on her head. She begins to eat the sandwich. Credits play on the right side of the screen.
