Mara Clawson
Bio
Mara Clawson is a visual artist who creates art using pastels and digital technology. Artwork by Clawson has been exhibited six museums and 15 galleries across the United States. Clawson views art as a way to connect with her community. Clawson was named a VSA/Kennedy Center Emerging Young Artists with Disabilities award winner. In addition to creating art, Clawson teaches iPad drawing classes and has co-authored and illustrated a children's book.

Image Descriptions
"Fireworks Reunion" Description: The background of this drawing is black. Along the bottom of the piece are six figures. The figures are only partially displayed. Most of the figures are only pictured from the head up, but the figure furthest on the left can be seen from about mid-chest level and up. The two figures furthest to the left stand in profile while the other four figure face away from the viewer. The figure all the way on the left wears a mauve shirt and has blond hair and a blond beard. The figure next to him has long eyelashes and brown hair. The remaining four figures, from left to right, have red hair, black hair, blond hair, and grey curly hair. The figures look at colorful fireworks. Interspersed with the fireworks are swirls. Around the fireworks are little yellow circles that appear to be stars.
"Warming Days of Life" Description: The background of this image is light blue. Running horizontally near the bottom of the image is a dark brown tree branch. A smaller, lighter brown branchcan be seen lying overtop of this branch on a diagonal. The branch has four green leaves attached to it. Sitting on the dark brown tree branch is a nest made of multiple types of sticks. Inside the nest sit three white and blue eggs. Each egg has light grey circles near the tapered end.
"Living in Nature" Description: The background of this image is black. The drawing is a portrait of a woman.The woman has long reddish hair. She wears what appears to be a halo or handband arounf the crown of her head. Sitting on the bridge of her nose are a pair of small, pink-tinted glasses. She wears a green top and a necklace that features a brown peace sign hanging from a purple cord. A dark green leaf falls in front of her neck. In the background of the image are three more leaves and some white wavy lines. In the top right corner of the image is a blue and red sketch. The sketch includes a blue circle around a red number 8. The holes of the 8 dare colored in blue.
