Tommy Hollenstein
Bio
Tommy Hollenstein is a painter from Los Angeles. Rather than using paint brushes to create his art, Hollenstein covers the wheels of his wheelchair in paint and paints by wheeling over his canvases. Hollenstein creates "action painting" which is created via movement and results in pieces that evoke a sense of movement. Working from above, Hollenstein is able to create art that captures a wide variety of expressions and moods. Much of his work is inspired by Southern California culture. Hollenstein was left quadriplegic after a mountain biking accident in 1985 when he was 24 years old.

The trunk of the tree continues to the bottom of the image. The tree has similar dimensions to the canvas, resulting in a tall, skinny tree.

"Life is Good" Description: This image shows three canvas panels. The space between the panels is a stark white while the backgrounds of the canvases are more of an off white. The image shows long, skinny panels on either side of a panel that looks to be the size of two of the skinny panels put together side by side. It looks as though the painting was created with all of the panels next to each other, as the colorful tread marks on one panel line up with the marks on the next.
